Ranger’s Walk
Across America.
2,642 miles on foot, from the Atlantic to the Pacific, to highlight the good people making a real impact in their communities.
The numbers behind the journey.
Why I took the first step.
Hi, I’m Ranger, and I walked across America from the Atlantic to the Pacific. You might wonder why. It started in 2019, when I watched Mike Posner walk across the country. I thought it was amazing, and I thought it wasn’t possible for me.
Then, in 2020, my grandpa passed from Alzheimer’s. I realized we can live an entire life only to end up not remembering who we are at the end of it. So I set my excuses aside, put my shoes on, and took my first step.

My route from coast to coast.
The major stops along the way. It wasn’t a straight line, but this is the shape of the journey.

I started my walk on March 10, 2024 in Myrtle Beach, SC, and finished on August 31, 2024 in Los Angeles, CA.

These charities have profoundly impacted my life, and my walk was dedicated to supporting them. Together we raised over $8,500.

Future Farmers of America (FFA)
FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. Funds from the walk support Supervised Agricultural Experience Grants that fund hands-on, work-based learning for FFA students across the country.

Bigger than the Trail
Bigger than the Trail comes alongside individuals to provide educational support and treatment options for mental health. Running isn’t the focus, the people are. Their mission is to bring light to the real struggles tied to mental health, and funds from the walk help sponsor months of treatment for those who need it.

The Hospice Promise Foundation
The Hospice Promise Foundation helps patients and families with essential, non-medical expenses they can’t afford on their own, like rent and utility bills, emergency repairs, personal care items, and food. Funds from the walk help families receive care and support when they need it most.
Frequently asked questions.
Why did you walk across America?+
The mission was to highlight, learn from, and work with people across the USA who are making a real impact in their communities. Along the way I got to meet and learn from entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and everyday community members doing great work all over the country.
Did you accept donations?+
Yes, in two ways. I was raising money for the National FFA Organization, Bigger than the Trail, and The Hospice Promise Foundation. These organizations mean the world to me, and you can still give directly to any of them using the links above.
Folks who wanted to support me personally could buy me a coffee to help cover day-to-day costs like food, shelter, and gear.
Did you ever take rides?+
Yes, but let me explain. I never took a ride from point A to point B. What I did do was arrange “shuttling.” On long stretches with no resources, hotels, or campsites, I’d start at point A in the morning, walk to point B, get picked up at point B in the evening, sleep somewhere safe, then get dropped right back at point B to continue in the morning.
The only times I lost out on miles were due to road closures or un-walkable roads, like having to divert around a wildfire.
What are you doing now?+
The journey still continues. I’m no longer walking across the country (and don’t plan to again), but I’m still looking for the good people in the world. I run my coaching and consulting business, Within Range Coaching, out of San Carlos and Half Moon Bay, CA, I’m planning a wedding with my fiancée, taking care of our cat, and writing a few books about the journey.
What are the best ways to support you now?+
The best ways to support me now are by following along, joining one of my workshops or coaching programs, and simply choosing to be a good person every day. Your support means everything, and together we can make a positive impact.
The walk is done. The mission isn’t.
I’m still chasing the same thing: helping good people grow. Come see what I’m building now.
